I know its definately not frugal, I saw the Kindle in a restaurant tonight and was taken with it. Until I learned the price. I could use all the shelf space one of those frees up...wonder if there is a cheaper knockoff version?

Not sure if you have the I phone from Apple but I know they have an AP for it.

All the young people at work have that phone, seems they have everything on it...I still have an at&t phone that doesn't even have a camera. However, I pacify myself by having no house or car pmts. I sell my garage sale items either at a yard sale or e bay, save the $$ then buy my " toys " it makes me very picky about what I spend my $ on.

I SO want a kindle that I am saving for one. I out aside money every day out of the living expenses envelope (anyone else do that system?).
I also pay myself for extra tasks completed.

I love the new bigger size on the kindle. My friends have one-they put theirs on their credit cards.
I'll wait till I have enough moola then I'll get one. It makes me more motivated to be thrifty and motivated.:rolling grin:

I think I'll wait a while to buy one, I still like getting my books for free at the library. Or for .25 at the thrift store, then trading with someone. I'm thinking that with a Kindle I may be tempted to spend too much, as I am beginning to read a lot again. I am currently waiting to see if a trade goes through on swaptree, for "the shack." I haven't read that yet, everyone thats read it likes it, ( at least those I've asked?) Wish we had a book trade thread on here. hey thats maybe an idea???

I was reading The Shack 2-3 weeks ago when I was back in hospital with DH, having more heart surgery. It was hard to get much reading done because everyone that walked by that had either read it or wanted to read it had to stop and talk about it. I did get to meet a lot of people and hear their perspective on it, which was interesting, and it did help the time to pass.

I think I'll pass on the kindle. i read so much, the cost of the kindle would be increased by all the "books" I'd have to "buy", now I pay at most maybe .25 for a book, .50 if hardback, free if library....on a kindle I know i'd spend more. It would be nice to have all the space back on the shelves, but I wouldn't pay that much for the space.

I've had a Kindle for quite a long time now; I have the older Kindle 1 version. I have bought a few books from Amazon, but mostly I read books I get for free. I've read all of Jane Austen, and some really ancient Catholic Saints, for example. Check out Project Gutenburg, Manybooks, and the Christian Classics Ethereal Library. And that is just touching the surface of what is out there for free for the Kindle.
