Well, last year, I posted a recap after the holidays due to being disappointed with our holidays.

About a week or two ago, I printed out that recap, and we had a family meeting to plan our Holidays 2009. I am so excited about our plans that I had to share.
So, drawing from last year's plan:
-A Date with Santa in early December. We are choosing to not attend this year. Last year, my women's league organized this event, and they are not this year. Also, it was a rather expensive event to attend
-Family meeting to choose and carry out a meaningful Holiday Charity Project. We had our family meeting, and we are going to make knotted flannel blankets and then wrap them and deliver them to a local convalescent home for those who do not receive Christmas Gifts. The kids are very excited about this, and I think it will be wonderful to sit by the Christmas tree and work on them together. We are going to go pick out our material the day after Thanksgiving.
-Holiday Hookey Day (skip out of school and work early and go to Holiday in the Park) This year, is going to be a little different for this tradition because we have decided to take the kids to Six Flags/Holiday Park on their actual birthday (Sunday, December 13th) and buy them season passes for next year. So, we won't actually be taking them out of school, but we will be going.
-Going to the NutcrackerWe are going to see my baby perform as a toy soldier in the Nutcracker on Wed, December 23rd. We will have two sets of grandparents going with us. I got really good seats, and I am very excited about this. She is performing at the beautiful Eisemann Center http://www.eisemanncenter.com
-Christmas Light Looking Going to do this on December 21st with hot chocolate and fresh cookies in tow
-Christmas Cookie Baking I am leaving open the entire day on Sunday, December 20th, just to work on holiday goodies with my family
-Candlelight Service or Live Nativity Found this wonderful live nativity type experience. It is a little of a drive from us, but I think it will be well worth it. http://www.waxahachiechamber.com/bethlehem/bethlehemrevisited.php We are going to go on December 6th, to get us in the proper Christmas Spirit. We will also be attending our church's Christmas Eve Service.
I am saying no to all other parties and commitments (except my work holiday party which is really just a meeting on a Wed morning and is mandatory). No women's league party, no bunco party, no neighborhood party, no, no, no.
I am already feeling lighter and looking forward to the holidays more than I have any other year.
Oh, and we are also going to trim the tree the day after Thanksgiving. I have NEVER trimmed it that early, but I am interested to see how having it done early will effect the season.
