I'm sure I'll be working in the garden a lot this weekend, and I have to get stocked up on groceries, but Saturday will definitely be a home-made ice cream and game night! DD and I love to make ice cream on a Saturday afternoon, then maybe grill hamburgers or something for dinner, and eat our ice cream in the dining room while we play a game with DH and DS. It's a simple thing, but it's fun...and it gets everyone away from the TV:clap:

That sounds like a lot of fun!
What games do you all play on your game nights? We play Uno, Apples to Apples, and Charades mostly. My kids absolutely love charades - it is hilarious and we laugh, and laugh.

Apples to Apples is a favorite one here.. as is Payday. Emily recently bought Yahtzee Turbo.. where you roll the dice and have to beat the clock. It is so much fun. We love game night and while DS doesnt ask to play much anymore.. DD still will ask if we will play a game with her and even though she is almost 16 , I think it is still as important to stop whatever we are doing and take advantage of that family time. We have recently started working on 500 piece puzzles too.

Here are a few of our favorites... UNO, Monopoly, SWAP, Phase 10, Sequence, WAR, Rook, those are just a few.

We love doing jigsaw puzzles too. We have an old white board I used in the classroom and we set the puzzle up on that so we can move it around and not take over one of our tables. I forgot about Risk - the guys also play that, but I've never played with them. It's more of a guy thing!

We play Uno and Rummikub. My MIL got us hooked on that - it's fun.
HOWEVER, my plans for family game night didn't pan out this time. We went to a Drum and Bugle show instead. DH used to march with the Blue Devils out of Concord, CA, and also with a corps called Valley Fever, and now he's part of the Drum Corps Alumni group. There was a show not far from us featuring 12 different corps, and it was awesome!

DCI shows are amazing arent they? We had the best time at one we attended in Allentown recently. What does your DH play?

My husband played lead baritone for the Blue Devils in 1983 ('84??) can't remember right now. He and our son play trumpet in church every Sunday with our worship team, and I sing. It's a lot of fun. My husband is SO excited to be part of the alumni group - kinda gives him a chance to re-live a time in his life that really meant a lot to him. He wants DS to march in a junior corps. As it is, the high school band camp starts in just a couple of week...already gearing up for another demanding school year with marching band, concert band, jazz band, tae kwon do, church events, etc. Uggh, I'm already tired.

I hear ya.. DD does all 3 bands as well and her camp starts in a few weeks too. Its a real workout.. she normally drops a few pounds every year at camp and gets a tan. My DD plays trumpet as well.
