I'm thinking of trying a small version. A friend of mine has a large set up in her barn, and I'm fascinated.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

Well, I think we might try to get the items together for this and give it a try next spring. I don't think we can get enough solar power to heat the barn for this winter (hopefully will be able to get it by next winter).
I'd love to be able to have fresh fish and garden stuff all year round.

I'm curious now. What is aquaponics?

It's a combination of fish farming and hydroponic gardening. You cycle the fish water to the plants. . it provides the nutrients for growth, and cleans the water -- then you cycle the cleaned water back to the fish. Two crops (produce and fish) from one water bin.

I had never heard of it UNTIL today at a homeschool meeting, there is a resturant in Orlando FL that serves veggies that they grow under their resturant..with this method...was very interesting to hear about...
