I have fabric

and I need a project! I have a bunch of jeans and a bunch of t-shirts. I think I want to make a rag rug with the t-shirts, but I'm trying to come up with a project for the denim. I could cut make a quilt, and I want to make a tool holder with pockets for some of dh's hand tools. any other ideas? maybe potholders? hmmm....

Some tote bags (maybe big enough to carry groceries)-use the back pockets on the outside of the tote, the little potholders that fit skillet handles, .... I'll keep thinking!

My granny made several huge throws, they are sooo handy to have. Keep it in the trunk for throwing on the ground to sit on, etc.

I heard of someone who cut the jeans up,sewed them together to make a patchwork quilt. Put the seams on the " right " side and let them unravel, so the top lookes fuzzy. The jean quilt I saw needed no liner or anything because denim is heavy to start with. I use my husbands pockets off his jeans ( back pockets ) and sew them on one bigger piece of fabric for when I sew it holds scissors, tape measure and small sewing tools for me. Stuck on the wall at the back of my closet it holds extra purse straps, cameras, credit cards ( so I don't have them with me all time ), extra ear buds for my radio, just anything small that would otherwise be hard to locate. You can even write on the pocket whats in there if you want to.

If you are needing rugs, you could quilt some squares together to make one.

so many good ideas! I like the quilt with the frayed edges- that's what I had in mind, and some sort of pocket/tool holder, and a rug from the t-shirts. I found some instructions for the rug where you crochet the base, then tie strips of tshirts to it. Guess I need to learn to crochet! :rolling grin:

How about a purse. I've seen it done using just the top half of the pants. You can also put a liner in it to jazz it up a bit. You can probably get step by step insturctions on http://diynetwork.com look up the show B Original or do a search for denim purse. Good Luck let me know what you decided to make.

I've seen the purses..The cutest ones are made from little girl jeans with the embrodered pockets..you could also make a tv remote holder that slips on the side of the chair..use the pocket to hold the remote,,etc..

for now I'm making the pot handle holders and just cutting the fabric into usable pieces. (I'm doing odd shapes- I rather like the "crazy quilt" style) Hopefully after Christmas I can start a project or two!
