Default knocking out a wall!!!

we're going to take out the wall between our kitchen and the "front room" (liv. rm? fam rm? whatever). I'm soooo excited! this will really open things up! dh also thinks this would be a good time to redo the floors with the reclaimed lumber he's been storing and also dig out a root cellar and put a trap door in the kitchen for access. I'll start taking some "before" pics and post our progress!

We did that a few years back. We have a family room, but the living room was never used. We knocked the wall out and now we have a great room. We LOVE it. Can't wait to see the before & after pics.

Our front room is definitely not being used to its full potential! Right now there is a piano, a HUGE drumset, a couch that we never use, (not very relaxing with cymbals in your face), a cabinet holding office & craft stuff, and lots of wooden boxes with books stacked up. Meanwhile, the kitchen (where everyone ends up gathering) is crowded. The ultimate plan is to build another room on the back (hopefully this spring) which will be for ds1 and the drums, then turn his room (the smallest) into extra storage/craft room and maybe the baby's room if we get pregnant. We have very small closets, no basement, no garage, so storage is tricky. My kitchen doesn't even have many cabinets and with canning supplies, the dehydrator, food processor, etc I don't have any space. One more room and some creative shelving will make a huge difference.

We knocked down the wall between our living room and kitchen area several years ago. It's now one big room all the way across the front of our house and I love it!
