By the way I love these kind of posts-keeps me motivated to be frugal.
I turned in books at a used book store and got $24 in store credit. I then bought a used book in perfect condition that is normally $14 and I got it for $.75 cents (they took $7.00 in store credit as well). I went to Dollar Tree and for $17.65 I got: 2 balls (one had Disney character on it), 2 bodywashs for the girls, 4 flavored coffee creamers, 2 greeting cards, package of googly eyes, package of pom poms, door hangers craft set for the girls to decorate, 3 coloring books, 2 toothbrushes, frisbees, and birthday candles. |

I am *finally* preparing to let go of our second fridge. It has been SO nice to have for drinks for parties, food when I do the once a month stock up before I get stuff assembled and frozen, and of course we actually needed it for the wedding stuff. But we've been married over a month now, and I need to let go.
So... I'm totally scrubbing out the new fridge while I have the chance to have it 100% empty, and then I'll put everything in the new one. I think the old one is getting sold to a friend for cheap.

Giseledta -
This is such a great idea for a thread and I don't want it to end! I've moved it over to Frugal Tips and I am also stickying it up at the top so we'll always have it handy. That way we can keep it going a long time and it will fill up with great ideas as we all try to save every day.

Cleaning here and there today. We don't use papertowels here. Only rags. Cloth diapers are the best. Rarely napkins either, mostly cloth napkins. Saves much $.
Mixing up biscuit mix and salsa this afternoon.

I wish I could break free from my love of paper towels. They are expensive, we go through a ton, but they are so darn convenient! But it is a great way to cut back on my grocery bill. I should bite the bullet and just do it.

I went to Kmart and bought a few things, but was so proud of myself for only purchasing what was absolutely necessary. The frivolous, extra stuff went back on the shelf after asking myself if I REALLY needed it. I almost picked up some cookies, but talked myself out of it because I have everything I need to make several batches myself. I did go through a drive-thru for lunch (I treat myself on Mondays), but I put chicken, sauce and spices in the crock pot for enchilada meat for dinner. We'll eat off of that for a couple days, I'm sure.

Hi, Ladies!
In an attempt to be frugal and help others in their frugality, I've started a blog of with decorating ideas using a pallet of twin sheets I bought for a handful of cents each. Freight Surplus sales can be really exciting and save a family a ton. Thank you for the ideas you have shared. Last edited by Candace; 12-13-2008 at 07:00 PM. |

This is a great thread!
Today, all I can really say is we didn't eat out. Candace, maybe you could make a change in the brand of paper towels you use. Dh and I bought a case of 30 rolls at Sams Club (I think they were Pom brand - like for industrial use?). This was on February 1st and I still have ten rolls left, and that is saying a lot for my family. I think we paid under $17.00 for the case, which was way cheaper than the Bounty I was using and they work just as well. |
