Mama’s Top 5 Essentials
As a mom, you’re a chef, chauffeur, referee, tutor, supervisor, and entertainer. You’re busy. It’s not impossible that your morning went from calm to hectic within a matter of seconds, but fear not – we’ve figured out the five essentials to make the day run a bit smoother.
1. Tote Bag
Tote bags are necessary for mothers with younger and older children. Your small Coach bag once got the job done for you, but not anymore. Consider all of the possible gear you will need to carry on you throughout the day. For starters, you will want to have your personal items on you, like chapstick, hand sanitizer, keys, phone, and an extra hair tie. A tote bag will give you the space you need to carry extra items as well, like a book if dance class runs late. Additionally, if you have a baby to care for – you can fit diapers in the same bag. Vera Bradley offer totes in all different colors and prints, so you can choose one that expresses your personality and adds to your ensemble! Consider finding a bag with lots of pockets, so you can keep everything organized as opposed to a giant clutter under your arm.
Time’s a-ticking, and you’ve got somewhere to be! A watch will keep you on schedule for getting to work, meetings, giving your kids a ride, and picking them up. As a busy mama, it’s easy to lose track of time (we’ve all been there). Brands like Invicta, available at ShopHQ, offer various straps, like alligator, ceramic, and rubber, and sizes, so you can find a watch you are truly comfortable with! Watches are also another opportunity to style true to your style. As a mama, fashion may have fell behind on your list of things to care about – but watches will double as fashion statements and essentials.
Sunglasses can often save the day. They’re an underrated accessory, in that we don’t fully appreciate them until we realize we desperately need them! There’s nothing worse than spending an afternoon at the park with the kids, or driving in the heat of the sun, without your sunglasses. Sunglasses can be inexpensive and you can pick up a new pair of the latest style every year, or you can splurge on a classic pair to last you multiple years! Throw on a baseball cap or sunhat with your shades and you’ll be set for a day out.
4. Smart Phone
Often times, we hate to admit that technology is very important, but a smart phone will leave everything at your fingertips. As opposed to keeping a whole calendar with you (can you only imagine?) keep all of the children’s appointments, socials, and practices in your phone. You can even set reminders to go off before you even have the chance to be late. Additionally, smart phones allow you to have a camera on you at all time. This will surely come in handy when you want action shots of your child scoring a goal during a soccer game!
5. Hand sanitizer
Chances are both you and your kids are going to need hand sanitizer at multiple points during the day. Sometimes, you may even use it to settle your own soul. Without even realizing it, there may be bacteria to kill on your hands, so it’s important to remind the kids to use it often. Not sanitizing could lead to germs spreading throughout the car and home, your children getting sick or catching a cold, and then the whole process of taking care of them. Hand sanitizers, like Purell, are great preventives to keep on you at all times.
Double check your bag before you leave the house each day – you may find a few items to remove and lessen the weight of your bag or a few items you happened to forget!
